San Andres Island is a place that smells and tastes like coconut. Since 1853, the island stopped growing cotton and started to cultivate coconut and became the star of the island.

Every part of a Coconut can be used for something. With Its branches people create beautiful hats and baskets, from the fiber that covers the nut, ropes, mats, carpets and rugs are made, the pulp of the coconut is removed to extract the delicious soft oil with which the locals prepare seafood.

In craft production, the most precious part of the coconut is the shell. From this, saucers, spoons, necklaces, earrings, rings, bracelets, hair clips, card cases, belts, trays, coasters, cups, sugar bowls, lamps and many other products are made.

The people of San Andrés, Providencia and Santa Catalina are true magicians when creating coconut accessories.
